This is one of those wonderful expansive questions. It prompts people to think about what they really want. With your children, it’s a great way to get a grip on what makes them happy, specifically what they would love to do with you.
It’s a good one to ask when you feel like you’re stuck in old routines, when things are getting a bit stale, or when you just can’t think of anything new to do with your kids.
If we could do anything together, what would you want to do?
Remember, this isn’t a promise that you will do it. It’s a question designed to open a conversation. Your child might say ‘go to the jungle’. Obviously something you’re not going to do that weekend, but an idea you can explore. Why the jungle? What would you want to see and do there?
It’s these follow on questions that will give you an insight that you can then turn into time spent doing something they will love. Something that will make wonderful memories for you both to cherish.
