Leave noisily.
The best advice I've heard for anyone wanting to make their workplace better for working parents.
Especially working dads, because the 'part timer' banter that's often flung around can cut very deep when it's repeated again and again.
That goes for what we tell ourselves too. If we constantly question whether we're doing the right thing leaving work for kid bedtime, rather than being clear in our own heads on the value we're creating, we're going to suffer. The problem isn't the parent, it's the traditional pattern of work culture.
Changing it means challenging it, which practically means leaving work to get back for your kids noisily.
Get it out in the open, make it OK for others to follow, do it with confidence.
Leave noisily.
